Almut von Schwedler joined Bateau Bay Medical Centre in June 2015.
She had worked at Toukley Family practice for 17 years prior to relocating to Bateau Bay.

Almut was born and raised in Germany and began her medical training in the small city of Giessen. She emigrated to Australia in 1990 and completed her medical degree in Hobart, Tasmania where she still maintains friendships and loves to visit the mountains, Salamanca Market and sample the fresh produce.

She raised her son and daughter on the Central Coast, during which time she started to love everything the Coast has to offer including spending leisure time with friends, being able to swim off the ocean beaches, cycle (also cycle to work, supported by a little battery power) and hike the headlands and parks.

Almut continues to be enthusiastic about Pilates and Yoga, often finding herself on the floor to demonstrate body positions her patients might be benefitting from.

Almut has an interest in mental health, but loves child and women’s health equally as a privilege of looking after entire families.

Skin cancer diagnosis is still a foreign entity and she is happy to leave this part of care to her colleagues.

In her spare time at home she enjoys baking, cooking, preserving, knitting little clothing items for grandchildren (present and yet to come) and dabbles in some art and craft.
She is excited to visit family in Germany and the US once Covid 19 is under control.
Her mantra for now is: It is what it is…
